This writing was initially created as a guide for NPCs to play Halgudar Soldiers in game. This will soon be re-written to the Campaign Societies Sourceook Format.

Halgudar Soldiers

Halgudar has been fighting a war on four fronts. For several years now, they have fought against Rynith to the East, which is the fiercest enemy. Halgudar also fights against Barbarian raiders from Fer Garruth to the South, nomadic raiders from the Badlands to the North and, most recently, Dakkor has attacked from the Northwest.

Halgudar’s soldiers have been fighting for so long that they have two distinct kinds of soldiers. They are either hardened people, world-weary, distant and tense, ready to attack at a moment’s notice anything that impedes them. The other kind are raw, “green” recruits who have barely had time to grow up before taking up arms to defend their land. They fight for patriotic belief. And they will likely die for it.

The country and its soldiers do not want any kind of outside combat forces fighting its wars. They are adamant that they will fight(and win) their wars by themselves. They will accept humanitarian aid, which is currently being administered by members of the Veldron Knights, and tactical aid, which are coming from DeMekrium “advisors.”

The majority of the army is now in the Eastern half of Halgudar, using forts to defend their borders from Rynith. Fort Shelton fell in June of 496 and there were no survivors. Recently, Fort Canis has been besieged by Rynith for reasons unknown.

The colored trim on tabards and bandannas denote the soldier’s rank or function-RED is for a basic soldier; BLACK is for officer; GRAY is for engineer; BLUE trim on the tabard indicate a healer. The addition of a GREEN STRIPE to the trim indicates that the person is also a mage.

Healers carry staff & dagger and have the following spells: CURE BLINDNESS, DING-AWAY, HEAL, PURIFY BLOOD, PURIFY FOOD/DRINK, REPAIR, RESTORE LIMB, RESURRECT, SPEAK W/(UN)DEAD, TRUTH.

Dereliction of one’s duty is the highest form of treason. Soldiers in the field can perform trials on any deserters they capture. The penalty is always Death.

Halgudar soldiers have a deep respect for Elves. This is instilled in them during training and has its roots deep in the past, with the founder of Halgudar, GENERAL CYMFAL. Halgudar will go as far as to hold off fighting a full Elf during combat.

The burning torch is the symbol of Halgudar, representing the eternal flame of vigilance.
